Swiss Re China president John Chen retires

Deputy Head of Swiss Re China Brian Han will take over operations.

Swiss Re has announced the retirement of John Chen from his role as president of Swiss Re China and general manager of the Beijing Branch.

Chen will step down from his position on 31 January 2022. In the meantime, deputy head of Swiss Re China, Brian Han, will be the interim leader until the company appoints a permanent replacement in the coming months.

According to Swiss Re, Chen will be ‘leaving the organisation to pursue personal plans in his next chapter.’

Chen joined Swiss Re in June 2016. He was appointed China Country President, General Manager of the Beijing Branch, and Head of Reinsurance China following regulatory approvals. Under his leadership, Swiss Re's leading proposition is well-recognized by the industry.
